GoPro Max 360 Battery Life & How To Improve It

GoPro Max 360, is a good camera. Why is that?

Because it says GoPro.

Jokes aside, this is a great action camera that is feature-packed, with the major being the 360-degree content it provides.

It is a really versatile camera that can be used for many things, especially for sports. It comes in a dual-camera setup and 360-degree footage possibilities, as I mentioned. What’s more, it is really portable, duh action camera; and at the same time, it is quite easy to use. Also worth mentioning is that you can edit your footage in an instant after you are done taking them.

GoPro Max 360 Battery Life:

GoPro Max 360 battery life is quite good, it can manage around 85 minutes of recording in 360-degree aspect, or if you want more in a single-lens, you get 105 minutes. Also on Full HD1080p/ 60 fps at 115 minutes.

I don’t want to sugarcoat anything, but those are good numbers for an action camera. We all know that it is quite hard for an action camera to pack good battery life, due to its compact form factor.

What Type of Battery Does GoPro Max Use?

The GoPro Max uses a 1600mah lithium-ion GoPro rechargeable battery.

If you own the MAX I would highly encourage you to get an extra battery and even a charger.

As I mentioned, this is a 360-degree action camera, the first of its kind from GoPro. Besides the 360 content, it features stuff like a colored LCD touchscreen and a bunch of other things that take a huge toll on the camera.

Although there is a charging port in the GoPro MAX, you won’t be able to charge it while using the camera.

Getting the GoPro Max charger, you also get an extra battery and you have the freedom to change 2 batteries at the same time.

How to Improve Battery life On MAX:

Make sure to update firmware:

You probably are not taking the firmware updates seriously, I mean we all don’t.

But that’s wrong. Updates are a way of the company telling us that they care about their products and they do their best to remove things like bugs or that interfere with the software inside the camera.

Turn off when not in use:

This is self-explanatory, make sure to turn off your camera when you are not using it, or even go as far as removing the batteries too.

Also, the quick-capture feature makes this process quite easy, it will start recording instantly whenever the camera is powered on.

Turn off Wi-Fi and BlueTooth:

Just like in most devices, even in cameras by turning off the connectivities you will spare some batteries, like 10-15 minutes which is a lot when recording.

Turn them on, only when you need to transfer your files.

Reduce the frame rate/resolution:

This goes without saying, but if you don’t care about the quality that much; please help yourself and decrease the resolution and refresh rate since it will drastically give a boost to battery life.

LCD Screen:

Another factor that will contribute to better battery life, would be the colored LCD screen that takes some stamina from your battery.

If you struggle with battery, turn it off and capture the footage in an old-school way.

Final Words:

Even though it comes from GoPro, this remains an action camera. It’s very versatile and its even one of my favorite 360 cameras for real estate.

Don’t expect it to last you through the whole day. Just make sure you get extra batteries with you and possibly a charger and you will be good to go.

Hopefully, this article gave you some ideas on what to do with your GoPro MAX and it’s battery life.

Until next time,

Enjoy!
